2020 Top Featured Projects

Without a doubt, 2020 was a year like no other. Despite the myriad of challenges, projects were installed, first days of business occurred, and new ways of working emerged. Reviewing our featured projects for the past year shows inspired design, innovative solutions, and unique work environments for customers from a wide spectrum of industries and organizations. We partnered with award winning architects and designers, leading general contractors and accomplished project teams.

It would be impossible to identify the top three on our own, so we let our readers make the choice. The third most viewed project in 2020 is the Palo Alto Networks corporate campus. “Designed to build connections, provide transparency and support productive work, the campus fosters community and conversation through cafes, amenities and other social hubs, keeping Palo Alto Networks unique culture thriving as it continues to grow and scale” says their website. When this world cyber security leader needed IT and video collaboration solutions for the new workplace, they conducted a highly competitive bidding process and chose OWP Technology as their partner.

From cafes, conference and training rooms, phone rooms and private offices, to room schedulers, a Tech Oasis and more, our team worked closely with Palo Alto Networks directly to design and integrate technology solutions with the workplace design to deliver a seamless experience. Palo Alto Networks provides solutions that secure the way we work, and we unified their physical space with IT and AV technology to create solutions that adapt and integrate connectivity and instant access to information. The new workplace empowers PANW to work better today and also anticipate future needs.

Moving onto another campus, coming in at second most viewed is the Clif Bar headquarters expansion. ZGF Architects added to their existing project design, envisioning more space as accessible, natural and nurturing as the Clif Bar brand and culture. Materials, textures and natural light mix the warmth of wood and soft seating with high ceiling decks, exposed ducts and industrial lighting to support community and stewardship of Clif Bar culture. Biophilic elements tie back to Clif Bar core value of sustainable sourcing.

"We’re working to run a different kind of company: the kind of place we’d want to work, that makes the kind of food we’d like to eat, and that strives for a healthier, more sustainable world – the kind of world we’d like to pass on to our children." Who wouldn't want to work with Clif Bar?

And finally, the project most viewed in 2020 is the Bakar Precision Cancer Medical Building, a recent addition to the UCSF Mission Bay Medical Center campus. The facility layout is inspired by four key design principles: Precision, Transparency, Integration, and Activation. OWP Healthcare continued our work with project architect Stantec weaving these principles throughout the interiors.

Precision medicine is designed to offer novel approaches and personalized treatment to patients. The building brings together top researchers, oncologists, surgeons, and other clinicians to foster new treatments and speed their delivery to patients. The 179,000-square foot cancer facility houses 120 exam rooms, 47 chemotherapy infusion bays, and 19 different types of imaging services.
