Confidential Maritime Client HQ | One Workplace

A Headquarters Built for Voyage in Motion

Confidential Maritime Client Headquarters Walnut Creek

For a company built on connecting people, places, and cargo across the Pacific, a new HQ needed to do more than house desks, it needed to carry the weight of a maritime legacy while giving a fast-growing team room to move. When an urgent lease deadline forced this family-owned shipping company out of downtown Oakland, One Workplace stepped in on an accelerated timeline to deliver a single-floor headquarters in Walnut Creek that pairs hierarchy-aware private offices with a gallery-level celebration of the client's history on the water.

Working in an integrated design-build delivery with AP+I Design and BCCI Construction, One Workplace furnished nearly 57,000 square feet of tenant improvement space, from a boardroom anchored by a 30-foot custom table to nearly 500 linear feet of built-in millwork completed in just four weeks. The result is a workplace that reads like a maritime museum as much as a corporate headquarters, with model ships, an oar, gallery art, and wood detailing throughout that trace the company's history at every turn.

Precision at Scale

Guided by AP+I Design's Voyage in Motion concept, the entire space celebrates the company's role connecting people, teams, and communities across the water. Warm wood tones, open sightlines, and natural light set the backdrop, while a history wall, model ship displays, and maritime artifacts carry the client's story through the building, right down to a boat-shaped feature built into the reception ceiling. Custom millwork reception desks and nearly 500 linear feet of wall-to-ceiling built-in storage, fabricated and installed by Commercial Casework in just four weeks, ground the space in craftsmanship as much as narrative. And at the center of it all sits the boardroom's  30-foot conference table, built from seven slabs of quartz, codesigned and manufactured by PAIR.
