Fenwick SF | One Workplace

Designed for Exchange

Fenwick San Francisco

Fenwick has spent decades counseling the companies that move technology forward. With its new San Francisco office, the firm turned that same forward-looking lens on itself and asked a question few law firms ask out loud: what if the office worked more like the clients we serve?

The answer spans three floors, 41,500-square-feet, thirty stories above the Financial District. Designed by Blitz, built by Principal Builders, and furnished by One Workplace, the space sets aside the corner-office playbook in favor of something more fluid: a workplace organized around the movement of ideas, people, and perspectives.

Rewriting the Law Firm Floor Plan

Blitz anchored the design in a single word: Exchange. For a profession that has long measured seniority in square footage, it's a quietly radical idea. Here, connection outranks status. Spaces are open and adaptable, ready to shift as teams form, matters evolve, and the way the firm works keeps changing.

Fenwick's open market system sets the tone. Instead of a floor carved up by rank, this plan keeps people in view of one another and of the city, with corridors shaped to frame the skyline and the Bay. The everyday walk to a meeting becomes a chance to cross paths, trade a quick update, or start the conversation that moves a deal forward.

Polished, Bright, and Built for People

The material palette pairs a polished, industrial edge with genuine warmth. Light, bright finishes keep the floor feeling open from end to end, while environmental graphics and interior landscaping bring texture, identity, and a sense of life to the space.

And the furniture follows the same brief. One Workplace worked closely with Blitz to outfit an environment to support both sides of legal work: quiet settings for focused, heads-down drafting and flexible, welcoming spaces for the collaboration that happens between. And the process drew on input from people across the firm, so the finished space reflects how attorneys and staff actually spend their days.
