2020 ONEder Grant Recipients Announced
SANTA CLARA, CA – August 13, 2020 – One Workplace announces recipients of the second annual ONEder Grant awards, to support our belief that architects and designers (A/D) should have the opportunity to conduct unique research that explores the impact of various business drivers on the workplace environment.
21 firms from across Northern California submitted proposals for commercial A/D research and development projects. Five judges reviewed the proposals in a competitive, challenging process against four criteria:
“We are living in Silicon Valley, where arguably the greatest thought leadership relative to technology and the coming trends of tech and tech development happen, and design firms in this area are the ones that are designing those spaces.” commented Dave Bryant, Vice President of Sales at One Workplace.
“If we truly are committed to supporting the design community and what they really need, helping them de-commoditize themselves and be recognized as critical within corporate real estate, we have an opportunity to put our money where our mouth is and fund grants…to develop those points of view.”
Six firms were awarded ONEder grants of $20,000 each.
AP+I Design, Mountain View: Develop and implement an after-school outreach program targeting underserved high schools to introduce opportunities available in the Interior Design profession.
Boulder Associates, Sacramento: Create a technology mechanism to correlate human response metrics with interior spaces
Designing Justice Designing Spaces, Oakland: Research, design and develop tools to create ample safe spaces for survivors of violence while interacting with the justice system.
EHDD, San Francisco: Reimagine evidence-based environments for Higher Ed classrooms, faculty spaces and social and innovation hubs.
Siegel & Strain Architects, Emeryville – Improve and expand the Carbon Calculator tool to better support decision-making for New Building vs. Building Renovation
Vital Architecture – Make Networking Theory available and useful to architects and designers for decision making and planning.
