Victory Village | One Workplace

Victory Village

Victory Village, 54 units of affordable senior housing development from Resources for Community Development, was designed by Van Meters Williams Pollack to take advantage of the natural setting. The site connects residents with the surrounding outdoor environment, tree filled hills, Marin County weather, courtyards for relaxing and gardening, natural light and a warm biophilia influenced color palette.

One third of Victory Village residents were previously homeless, and our team was asked to curate furnishing solutions on a tight budget which would help them feel welcome and create a sense of comfort and acceptance. Spaces include the main entry lobby, management and service offices, and common spaces for resident gatherings.
Transparency and visibility are critical design features along with passive solar heating which promote wellbeing and community, encouraging both residents and staff to communicate and engage.
Choices of comfortable furniture profiles, warmth from wood, connected and contrasting textiles, simplicity and continuity in design across the interiors combine to invite Victory Village residents to make the space their own.
